{"id":291,"date":"2020-08-07T09:25:54","date_gmt":"2020-08-07T09:25:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businessvisionconsulting.com\/?p=291"},"modified":"2020-08-07T09:25:54","modified_gmt":"2020-08-07T09:25:54","slug":"meetings-for-meetings-sake-think-before-you-schedule-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businessvisionconsulting.com\/?p=291","title":{"rendered":"Meetings for meetings sake &#8211; think before you schedule one!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ACoAAABoGr4Bf9JA_K-PZ_WziQusGI9o4CnpWqY\">Martin Luenendonk<\/a>\u00a0article published in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/forbes-magazine\/\">Forbes<\/a>\u00a0last year stated that 37% of meetings are considered to be adding no value to the organization and that the average middle level manager spends around 35% of their time in meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a study by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/bain-and-company\/\">Bain &amp; Company<\/a>&nbsp;organizations spend about 15% of their time in meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Research by Infographic showed that 91% of employees have daydreamed during a meeting, 39% have reported sleeping during a meeting, 45% have felt overwhelmed by the number of meetings they had to attend, 73% have done other work during a meeting, and 47% of employees have complained that meetings are the number one time waster at the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The above were prior to Covid-19 and the associated changes in working practices and the en masse move to Zoom, MS Teams and other platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prompted by a Bob Harper post&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lnkd.in\/dsCS_zU\">https:\/\/lnkd.in\/dsCS_zU<\/a>&nbsp;I do ask myself what these statistics would be today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clearly video conference resources have supported the continued connection and collaboration of teams.
